When diving into the world of laser hair removal, we understand the excitement and questions many people have regarding the treatment. In this article we’ll cover some of the essential do’s and don'ts for your treatment--including what to expect before, during, and after.
BEFORE:
DO:
Shave the treatment area within 24 hours of your appointment. This will allow the laser to target the hair follicle while avoiding excess heat on the surface of the skin.
Make sure to do thorough research, and only get laser treatment done by a licensed medical aesthetician.
DON'T:
Tweeze, wax, or bleach hairs for a minimum 4 weeks leading up to the treatment.
Expose yourself to the sun in the month leading up to the treatment. If you are going to be in the sun, make sure to apply sunscreen that is at least SPF 30 to the treatment area and re apply every 2 hours.
DURING:
DO:
Wear protective eyewear provided by your laser technician. Even though the treatment may be quick, it is important to protect your eyes from the laser light.
Trust your technician and don’t be afraid to ask questions about the treatment.
DON'T:
Remove your protective eyewear for your safety.
AFTER:
DO:
Follow all post treatment recommendations to ensure the best possible results.
Remember that it takes a series of treatments to reach the results that you are hoping for.
DON'T:
Participate in any strenuous exercise for 2 days following your laser hair removal treatment.
Rub or scratch the areas that have been treated.
Take hot baths or showers, or go in a sauna or hot tub for 24 hours.
Expose the treated area to sun for 7-10 days.
